Responsible for oversight of all antimicrobial drug therapy in the hospital setting, including: Review of current utilization for appropriateness, development and monitoring of adherence to drug/disease state protocols, development and maintenance of targeted and restricted antimicrobial protocols and policies, regulatory compliance with Joint Commission Standards, and reporting of applicable metrics to Pharmacy and Therapeutics and/or hospital and pharmacy administration. Performs clinical support functions of pharmacy including clinical rounds, drug information, antibiotic monitoring, and chart review. Provides prescribed medications, drugs, and other pharmaceuticals and compound medications in accordance with professional standards and practices. Performs the clinical and educational functions of the Pharmacy Department.
EDUCATION: Licensed as a pharmacist in the State of Maryland; advanced degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE: 2 years clinical pharmacy experience in a hospital setting. Strong background in infectious disease, antimicrobial stewardship and utilization review.
LICENSE/CERT/REG: Pharmacist license in the State of Maryland. PGY 1 residency or at least 5 years equivalent experience required, PGY-2 in infectious disease preferred. Board certification preferred.
SKILLS: Verbal and written communication skills. Basic computer skills preferred.
